Jan Vertonghen may have instilled fear in centre-forwards during his playing days, but the former Tottenham man has now conquered his own biggest fear on his return to North London.
Vertonghen was one of Tottenham’s best centre-backs across the Premier League era and exuded a sense of calm on the pitch.
There was little that could fluster the Belgian, and he was often referred to as a ‘Rolls-Royce’ defender, given the elegance with which he played.
However, Spurs fans now have a chance to see the 38-year-old like they have never before: completely flustered and in a state of sheer panic.

Tottenham legend Jan Vertonghen tries the Dare Skywalk
The former Tottenham man was the special guest during the club’s 2-2 draw against Man City a couple of weeks ago.
On his return to North London, Vertonghen decided to overcome his fear of heights and try out the Dare Skywalk.
The 38-year-old was shaking in his boots throughout the climb and barely opened his eyes once he was on the skywalk. In fact, his two daughters appeared to enjoy the experience much more than the former Spurs man, who was petrified throughout.
Vertonghen admits Spurs spell was the fondest time of his life
Having spent eight years at Tottenham, the defender understandably still has a lot of affection for the club.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Vertonghen admitted that he had the best time of his life at Spurs, revealing that he still keeps in touch with his former Tottenham teammates.
Reflecting on the sides he was part of at N17, Vertonghen admitted that he and his Tottenham teammates knew they would win even before they entered the pitch during the team’s zenith under Mauricio Pochettino.
