Tottenham’s George Abbott has opened his account in front of goal for Wycombe Wanderers, and his strike was a thing of beauty.

It has been a mixed story for the Tottenham youngsters out on loan this season, with some enjoying better fortunes than others.

One man who has been playing regularly and impressing is George Abbott, who is carrying on from where he left off at Notts County last season.

After impressing at Meadow Lane, Abbott took a step up to League One by joining Wycombe on loan, and the 20-year-old is certainly enjoying his time at Adams Park Stadium so far.

George Abbott scores brilliant goal for Wycombe on loan from Tottenham

Abbott has already racked up eight league appearances for the League One club this season, quickly establishing himself as a fixture in the middle of the park.

The Tottenham Hotspur man scored his first goal for Wycombe on Saturday as they emerged 2-0 winners against Northampton Town at home.

It was a goal he will remember for a long time as the 20-year-old controlled a cross with his chest and showed quick feet to evade a couple of challenges in the box before producing an unstoppable strike into the bottom corner.

Abbott has demonstrated an eye for goal

Abbott was not really known for his goalscoring in the Tottenham youth team, but he showed at Notts last season and now at Wycombe that he has added that to his game.

The Spurs man is unique in that respect, as not a lot of number sixes have a knack for arriving late in the box and finishing chances.

Tottenham handed Abbott a new contract in the summer, which is a sign that Thomas Frank and his staff like the look of the youngster.
