Will Lankshear continues his excellent start to his spell at Oxford United, with the Tottenham striker showcasing his goalscorer’s instinct in the box in the 2-2 draw against Coventry City.
Lankshear has an exceptional record in youth football for Spurs, and he made his mark in the first-team last season, scoring his first senior goal for the club in their Europa League clash at Galatasaray.
However, the centre-forward struggled to make his mark on loan at West Brom last season, failing to find the back of the net in 13 appearances for the Baggies.
The 20-year-old thus faces a make-or-break loan this season, and his spell at the Kassam Stadium began in great fashion, with Lankshear netting his first goal for Oxford against Hull City earlier this month.
Tottenham’s Will Lankshear shows his poacher’s instinct yet again
Those who watched the Tottenham Hotspur youngster play for the Under-21s will know that he is a typical fox-in-the-box, and he showed that again against Coventry on Sunday.
After the away side had gone 1-0 up at the Kassam Stadium, Lankshear drew the home side back level on 19 minutes.
A free-kick was parried by the Coventry goalkeeper, and the Tottenham man was first to react inside the box, pouncing on a loose ball to produce an instinctive finish before wheeling off in celebration.
Lanskhear needs to build on the good start to his spell at Oxford
Thomas Frank and his coaching staff got a good look at the forward in pre-season, with Lanskhear being one of five Spurs youngsters who travelled to Asia.
However, there are a lot of talented young forwards at the North London club and the Spurs loanee is of the same age as Mathys Tel.
He thus has to impress a lot this season at Oxford to catch the eye of the Tottenham decision-makers and he has certainly started off on the right note.
