Viktor Gyokeres fires eight-word Arsenal vs Man Utd message after Benjamin Sesko decision

Viktor Gyokeres is raring for for Arsenal's Premier League season to get underway, ahead of their opener with Manchester United on August 17.

The 27-year-old completed the move to north London after weeks of negotiations between Arsenal and Sporting Clube de Portugal.

The two parties settled on an initial £55million move plus £8.7m in add-ons.

United had also been linked with Gyokeres in their pursuit to sign a new attacker before shifting their attentions to Benjamin Sesko - himself a former target of the Gunners, who opted to move for Gyokeres instead.

He arrived at Old Trafford in a deal worth £66.4m and £7.3m in add-ons. In a twist of fate, the two strikers are expected to face each other in the opening game of the new season.

The Swede has already made his feelings clear with a new Instagram post.

After the 3-0 victory over Athletic Bilbao in the Emirates Cup, Gyokeres wrote: "Great atmosphere and great support. Ready for Sunday."

His former Sporting teammate, Pedro Goncalves, replied: "The show is about to start."

Mikel Arteta has already warned rivals about the striker's threat after he scored his first goal in an Arsenal shirt against Bilbao.

United boss Ruben Amorim will know exactly what to expect when the sides meet. The Portuguese manager coached Gyokeres at Sporting for one season before taking over from Erik ten Hag last November.

"I think his goals, his threat, I think he pins both centre-backs," Arteta said.

"He’s a player that when you leave him with space, one against one he is going to destroy you.

"So he is going to create a lot of space for us, and in any situation he is a player who can score a goal."
