Arsenal are continuing their quest to sign Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres.
The Gunners have identified Gyokeres as the striker they want to sign this summer after months of speculation. Arsenal have been widely tipped to sign a new centre forward for nearly two years, with Gyokeres likely to be the player that puts an end to the rumours.
Negotiations have been ongoing between Arsenal and Sporting for some time to agree a deal for Gyokeres, with football.london understanding that an agreement has now been reached.
Arsenal will pay an initial fee worth €63.5million (£55million) for Gyokeres plus a further €10million (£8.7million) in add-ons. Now, a fresh update from Portugal has emerged about the Gunners' push to sign the Sweden international this summer.
Portuguese newspaper Record has claimed that an "agreement is in sight" for Arsenal to sign Gyokeres. There have also been updates that go into detail about the fee that the Gunners will pay to bring the striker to North London.
It has been claimed that Sporting hope the majority of the add-ons and clauses agreed by Arsenal will be paid by the end of Gyokeres' first season with the club.
Of the £8.7million agreed in the deal, the report claims that €7.5million (£6.5million) could be paid by this time next year.
Arsenal are then mentioned in the report as preferring to have spread the cost of the transfer over four payments across four years.
However, after a round of negotiations, it has now been agreed that Sporting will instead receive the fee in two payment clauses across two years instead, according to the report.
Once a deal is completed, Gyokeres could become either the fourth or fifth new signing at Arsenal this summer. The Gunners are also working on a deal to sign Chelsea star Noni Madueke with a £52million deal including add-ons already being agreed.
