Viktor Gyokeres to Arsenal transfer latest - Andrea Berta meeting, talks ongoing, fee set

6 hours ago 26

Viktor Gyokeres continues to be a player right at the top of the wish-list for Arsenal this summer.

The Gunners have been heavily linked with signing Gyokeres since last year - with rumours around the Sporting Lisbon star's future intensifying over the last few months.

After scoring 54 goals in all competitions last term, Gyokeres has been heavily linked with a move to a new club. Arsenal have been one of the teams mentioned as a potential destination.

Here, football.london takes a look at the latest surrounding Gyokeres' future and a potential transfer to Arsenal.

Sporting Lisbon plan

Reports in The Mirror claim Sporting have decided to 'pause talks' with Arsenal over a deal for Gyokeres.

The article has claimed that Sporting have made that call as an agreement over their transfer fee for the striker has still not been reached.

Arsenal are mentioned in the report as 'staying calm' that a deal to bring Gyokeres to the Emirates Stadium will still be a possibility.

Arsenal stance

It's understood that Arsenal are actively pursuing a deal to snap-up Gyokeres - this summer - as negotiations with Sporting continue.

The Portuguese club are said to be holding out for a total package worth around £70million, including an initial fee of €70million (£60million) with €10million (£8.6million) in add-ons.

The Gunners are thought to be only willing to offer an initial fee worth £56million plus a further £12.9million in add-ons based on performances and the like.

Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta made the trip to Lisbon to hold talks over a deal.

Concern over deal

Reports from Portuguese news outlet Record claimed that a deal had still not been agreed between Arsenal and Sporting for Gyokeres. As a result, there have been fears that a move to bring the striker to north London may be on the brink of collapse.

football.london understands, however, that it's still likely that Gyokeres will complete a move to Arsenal - rather than the deal fall through altogether.
