Virgin Media left football fans furious after issues with their broadcast caused havoc in the opening game of the Premier League season.
Liverpool's clash with Bournemouth at Anfield suffered issues midway through the first half which caused many Virgin viewers to miss the opening goal of the 2025/26 season. Reds striker Hugo Ekitike put the hosts in front after 37 minutes when he bundled his way through Bournemouth's defence before cooly slotting the ball home.
It was a huge moment for Ekitike, who was making his Premier League debut after completing a £79million transfer from Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer. And supporters watching along at home were up in arms to have missed it.
"Looks like Virgin media is playing up again," one fan said as another wrote: "Virgin media absolute garbage service, website, TV all down or glitching."
"Virgin Media gone all psychedelic. Missed the goal!" another fan said, whole one fumed: "Virgin media are useless."
Another fan wrote: "Virgin media down on the first day of the season. Shocking."
Virgin were quick to acknowledge the problem, posting on social media: ""Hello, we're aware of an issue affecting TV at the moment," they wrote to one fan. "Sorry for any inconvenience caused and we'll aim to resolve as soon as possible."
