Mathys Tel has had a difficult week since being left out of Tottenham’s Champions League squad, but the Frenchman gave the perfect response by showing how deadly he can be in front of goal during the international break.
Tel was one of six senior players left out of Tottenham’s Champions League squad for the league phase.
He was undoubtedly the most high-profile absentee, with the other five being either injured or surplus to requirements.
The decision to leave Tel out of the Champions League squad shocked many Spurs fans, who could not believe that a player that the Lilywhites signed just a few months ago did not make the cut.

A young player’s confidence can be shattered in a situation like this, but instead, it appears that it has lit a fire inside the 20-year-old to showcase his value.

The first of the two goals was particularly special, with Tel playing a quick one-two on the edge of the box before curling an effort with his left foot into the top corner.
