Many Tottenham Hotspur fans will be pleasantly surprised by the goal that Brennan Johnson scored for Wales in their thumping win over North Macedonia.
The 24-year-old finished as Tottenham’s top scorer last season with 18 goals and wrote his name into the club’s history books when he scored the match-winner in the Europa League final against Manchester United.
However, despite this, it is fair to say that many Spurs fans are still not completely sold on the winger.
Thomas Frank has said that Johnson is a ‘very important’ player for Tottenham, insisting that he can play on both flanks, and the 23-year-old has just shown why.

Brennan Johnson’s goal against Macedonia was impressive
The main complaints some Spurs fans have about Johnson are that he only scores back-post tap-ins and remains anonymous in games, apart from his goals.
The winger’s goal in Wales’ thumping 7-1 win over North Macedonia should help silence those critics.
Johnson picked up the ball on the left flank, cut inside and ran past several players before unleashing a shot into the top corner from just outside the box.

Johnson could be on his way to the World Cup
Wales’ win over North Macedonia means they saw them finish in second place in Group J of the European qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.
Not only have the Dragons secured a spot in the playoffs, they have also ensured that they will not play a semi-final against a top seed in the playoffs.
Additionally, Craig Bellamy’s men will have home advantage for the playoff semi-final in March, with Johnson, Ben Davies and co thus giving themselves a good chance of making it to the World Cup.
