The Premier League returns this weekend, and with it comes the first Manchester Derby of the season. Man City will host Man United at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, September 14, in one of the most hotly-anticipated fixtures in the football calendar.
Both sides have endured a sticky start to the season, each registering one league win from four. Standout results include United’s embarrassing Carabao Cup defeat at Grimsby, while City suffered yet another loss to bogey team Tottenham Hotspur.
Ahead of the weekend, Ruben Amorim’s Reds sit ninth in the Premier League table, with Pep Guardiola’s Blues trailing in thirteenth. The Manchester teams last met in April, where they were held to a 0-0 draw as star striker Erling Haaland was forced to miss the game after picking up an ankle injury.

Their previous clash came in December, when two late goals from Bruno Fernandes and Amad Diallo saw United come from behind to snatch all three points having trailed for most of the game. Defeat in the derby would mark Man City’s third consecutive league loss, while Man United will be hoping to capitalise on positive signs seen in their last outing against newly-promoted Burnley.
Man City and Man United will now meet on Sunday, with kick-off scheduled for 4.30pm. The match will be broadcast exclusively on Sky Sports, which is offering a discounted TV package to football fans.
To celebrate the start of the new season, Sky cut the price of its Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle from £49 to £35, saving new customers £336 and granting access to more than 1,400 live matches in the Premier League, EFL and more. What’s more, fans taking advantage of the deal can watch Sky Sports immediately on the Sky Go app after they sign up.
Sky Sports discounted Premier League and EFL package
Sky has slashed the price of its Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle for the 2025/26 season, saving members £336 and offering more than 1,400 live matches across the Premier League, EFL and more.
Sky will show at least 215 live Premier League games this season, an increase of up to 100 more.
It comes as Sky has increased its coverage of the top flight from 128 to at least 215 matches this season, said to be 80% of all televised games. Alongside this football action, the Sky bundle comes with more than 100 channels such as Sky Atlantic, as well as free Netflix and Discovery+ subscriptions.
Sky is also reducing a Sky Sports subscription from £33 to £20 with a Sky Glass Air or Sky Glass Gen 2 smart TV, now up for grabs from £6 and £14 respectively. Sky’s deals compete with Virgin Media’s rival sports packages, which start at £64.99 for the Bigger Combo bundle + Sports.
While this is more pricey than Sky, it comes with more than 200 TV channels, including eight from Sky Sports such as Main Event, Football and F1, plus 362Mbps fibre broadband. Shoppers should note one catch with both Sky and Virgin’s plans: both providers will hike their prices each year.

Sky has already increased its TV and broadband prices by 6.2%, while Virgin has already confirmed its Bigger Combo bundle + Sports will rise to £68.49 from April 2026 and £71.99 from April 2027. But what’s Sky apart is the fact that it’s one of the few providers which lets its customers cancel their contract if a price rise is announced, offering flexibility to look for a new and more cost-effective deal.
