Wayne Rooney and Roy Keane agree on huge Arsenal Premier League title concern

Arsenal are four points ahead of Manchester City in the Premier League, while Liverpool are eight points behind the Gunners

Wayne Rooney and Roy Keane believe Arsenal should be worried about Manchester City as the Premier League title race took yet another turn over the weekend.

The Gunners go into the November international top of the league despite their 2-2 draw with Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Saturday. Man City are now just four points behind the north Londoners, however, after their convincing 3-0 win against Liverpool on Sunday.

Erling Haaland put Pep Guardiola's side ahead against the Reds before a deflected Nico Gonzalez strike just before the break doubled the home team's lead. Jeremy Doku added a sublime third in the second half to firmly put City back in the title race.

Speaking on Sky Sports after the game, Keane was full of praise for Guardiola and his squad. "This reminded me of City of old," he said. "Some players have got 60-70 games under their belts, and it looks like it's coming together.

"Liverpool had picked up in the last few games, but, coming to City, it's a different animal and City were outstanding. They are genuine contenders, certainly back in the mix. I think Arsenal will have looked at that and thought: 'Do you know what, the signs are good for Man City'."

Keane went as far as to say Liverpool are now out of the title race, with Arne Slot's side down in eighth and eight points behind Arsenal. "To lose seven in 10 and five times already is a crisis time for club like Liverpool," he said.

Sky has slashed the price of its Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle for the 2025/26 season, saving members £336 and offering more than 1,400 live matches across the Premier League, EFL and more.

Sky will show at least 215 live Premier League games this season, an increase of up to 100 more.

"Slot's assessment is spot on. City looked stronger, technically better and much better physically. Liverpool looked like a very weak team today. They have still got quality to cause problems, but, defensively, the goals they have given away, [poor] decision making, a lack of intensity... it looked really flat.

"He [Slot] was pleased with the second half but the game was over. It is easy to play at 2-0 or 3-0 when your opponents are taking their foot off gas. To me, I think it is a crisis for Liverpool."

Former Manchester United striker Rooney agrees with Keane and believes Arsenal should be "nervous" about Man City. “I think it will be difficult for Liverpool now,” Rooney said on his BBC podcast.

“I know Arsenal dropped points at the weekend but you look at their form overall and the way Man City are coming into a great run, it will be difficult for Liverpool. But it’s still early on the season so you never know. I just think Arsenal and Man City are the two favourites now.

“Arsenal will be a little bit nervous about Man City coming up but I think it will be one of them two. I still probably edge towards Arsenal. I have Arsenal as slight favourites.”
