Pedro Porro has spoken out following Tottenham Hotspur’s hard-fought draw with Liverpool, offering his backing to Igor Tudor after Spurs picked up a valuable point at Anfield.

Igor Tudor’s first month in the Tottenham Hotspur dugout was far from ideal, with the Croatian suffering a disappointing run of four defeats in a row.

However, on Sunday in the clash against Liverpool, the under-pressure Spurs interim manager finally earned his first point in the Premier League, bringing an end to his barren spell.

It was a crucial point for Tottenham, who now have a platform to build on as they look to push to avoid relegation this season.

Today, the Spaniard was among those who put in the hard yards as Spurs fought hard to avoid suffering their 15th defeat this season.

Following the game, the defender reflected on the team’s performance and the importance of sticking together during a difficult period.

Speaking to Sky Sports as relayed by BBC Sport after the match, Porro highlighted the effort from the players and the support from the fans during the draw with Liverpool.

He said, “We needed to push because it was a difficult game. Today the team was good, the fans were unbelievable also and we keep going now.

There are certainly positives to take from the performance against Liverpool, but the hope is that Tottenham can build on this.

Ahead of the clash against Liverpool, it was reported that Tudor could well have been sacked had he suffered defeat, with Spurs understood to have been searching for replacements.

However, with a point earned, the Croat’s spot in the dugout should be secure for now, and Porro has now sent a message of support to his boss.

Speaking about whether Igor Tudor deserves credit for the tactical approach in the game, Porro explained that the players followed the manager’s instructions and remain committed to playing for him.

He added, “We needed to follow the plan for today. My team-mates did the same, in this moment we knew we had to stay 1-0 in the second half and this was important for the game. We are playing for the manager and this is important for everyone now.”
