Enzo Maresca has been reflecting on his debut season as Chelsea head coach, with the Italian writing a message on Instagram about the journey since he was appointed.
Maresca was handed a five-year contract at Stamford Bridge in June 2024 and 13 months on from that day, it is safe to say the 45-year-old has impressed thus far. Just eight days ago, Reece James lifted the FIFA Club World Cup trophy in New Jersey after the Blues surprised the footballing world by demolishing Paris Saint-Germain in the final.
It was Chelsea's second trophy of the season after the Blues also won the Conference League in May with a victory over Real Betis in Wroclaw. Maresca also led his men to an impressive fourth-place finish in the Premier League to ensure Champions League football will be returning to Stamford Bridge next season.
"What a way to finish the 24/25 season, has been a very long journey," the Chelsea head coach wrote on his Instagram page. "We did it - and we did it in our way once again. Thanks to the players for the fantastic effort. Thanks to all our fans around the world. Thanks to my family and friends for being in my corner."

Chelsea will now be looking to build on an impressive debut season under Maresca and that starts in the summer transfer window. The Blues have been very busy so far, with the likes of Jamie Gittens, Joao Pedro and Liam Delap all being signed, with Estevao Willian, Kendry Paez, Mamadou Sarr, Mike Penders and Dario Essugo all arriving after agreements were made in previous seasons.
The club are still hoping to bring in at least a couple of new faces between now and the September 1 deadline. Jorrel Hato from Ajax is a target as the Blues look to bolster their defensive options. football.london understands Chelsea are considering making a move for the 19-year-old Dutchman but he is not the only option.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are still looking to improve their attacking depth ahead of the 2025/26 season. With Noni Madueke and Jadon Sancho both departed, and the likes of Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson being strongly linked with moves away, the Blues are considering their options this summer.
One of the names under consideration is Xavi Simons. Chelsea have long been admirers of the 22-year-old RB Leipzig attacker, who is said to be keen on leaving the German club in the coming weeks. Morgan Rogers is also an option for the Blues, while interest in Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho has never gone away.
