Pedro Porro has delivered his verdict on Tottenham’s latest encounter with Brighton and Hove Albion, offering insight into both the team’s performance and Kevin Danso’s costly mistake.
We are at that stage of the Premier League season where every point matters as each side fights to reach their goals for the campaign.
For Spurs, the focus is now on avoiding relegation to the Championship following what has been an abysmal season for the Lilywhites, who sit in the bottom three with five games to go.
On Saturday evening, Tottenham had the chance to leapfrog West Ham United and climb as high as 17th with a victory over Brighton and Hove Albion last weekend, but they fell short, drawing the game 2-2.
But it could have been a different outcome for Roberto De Zerbi’s men, who delivered arguably their best performance of the year and went in front twice against the Seagulls, only to be pegged back on both occasions.
Brighton’s second equaliser came late in the match, following a mistake from Kevin Danso.

Tottenham star Pedro Porro reacts to Brighton draw and performance
Spurs now have to look forward as they continue to fight for their place in the Premier League.
Their next clash is against bottom-placed Wolves, who have struggled for form in recent weeks and remain winless in their last three outings.
Victory there will do this side’s confidence a lot of good as they chase a first league win in 2026, and the performance against Brighton is something they can build on, as Pedro Porro believes.
Reflecting on the team’s display and the need to move on quickly, Porro told BBC Match of the Day that the focus must remain on staying positive and pushing forward:
“I think after the game we do not have time for the disappointment. For me and my team-mates, the best thing is keep pushing, keep going.
“I think the team today was very good. I think first half was very good for us. The team pressed very well. I think the most important thing now is staying positive.”
Spurs defender Pedro Porro backs Kevin Danso after error
Porro was impressive against Brighton and came close to doubling Spurs’ lead in the first half, reacting quickest in the box after Simons’ effort hit the upright, but his follow-up was denied by Bart Verbruggen.
The full-back, however, had a lapse in concentration for the Seagulls’ first goal, leaving Kaoru Mitoma unmarked in the box and allowing the Japan international to strike freely at goal.
However, it was Danso’s late mistake that proved costly, but Porro was quick to defend his team-mate and highlight his overall contribution.
He said, “I think Kevin had a great game today. This is the point now, we do not have time for mistakes. This is football, it happens. For me today, Kevin was instrumental on the pitch.”
