We simulated Liverpool vs Arsenal to predict potential Premier League title clash

20 hours ago 20

Arsenal will be looking to end their 13-year wait for a win at Anfield later today when the Gunners take on Liverpool in the Premier League.

Arsenal have had an impeccable start to the new Premier League season, with the Gunners winning two out of two, scoring six goals and conceding none in that time. But Mikel Arteta will need to end a winless run that has lasted longer than a decade if he wants to continue his winning start to the Premier League season, with a trip to Anfield awaiting his side later today.

Recent history is on Arsenal's side, with Liverpool winless against the Gunners in their last six meetings in the Premier League. But Arteta's side have been handed a blow ahead of the clash, with Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard both set to miss out through injury. With two of Arsenal's most creative players missing, new signing Eberechi Eze could be poised to make his debut for the Gunners.

So, can Arsenal pick up three points against Liverpool later today? We used EA FC 25 to get a score prediction.

Liverpool vs Arsenal score predicted

To complete this simulation, we used EA FC 25 and updated the squads with the latest injuries, suspensions, and transfers. The kits from the 2025/26 season aren't available in EA FC 25, so both sides were lined up in last season's kits, while new transfers may have incorrect squad numbers in-game.

We predict that Liverpool could line up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with their starting XI as follows: Alisson; Bradley, Konate, Van Dijk, Kerkez; Gravenberch, Szoboszlai; Salah, Wirtz, Gakpo; Ekitike.

We predict that Arsenal could set up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their line-up as follows: Raya; Timber, Saliba, Gabriel, Calafiori; Zubimendi, Rice, Eze; Madueke, Gyokeres, Martinelli.

Arsenal had a golden chance to go ahead in the opening five minutes when Eze slipped a pass in-behind the Liverpool defence for Vikor Gyokeres to chase, but after rounding Alisson and shooting, Virgil van Dijk made a fantastic block on the line to keep the score level. Relentless pressure from the Gunners followed the early chance, but Van Dijk seemed to be everywhere, with the Dutchman commanding the Liverpool box in the first half.

After the restart, it was Liverpool who found themselves getting into the game, and the Reds almost went ahead when Cody Gakpo cut in off the left and fired towards goal, but David Raya made a brilliant save at full stretch to deny the winger. The game was evenly contested in the second half, but with just under 20 minutes to go, an impressive strike saw the hosts take the lead.

A switch of play allowed Mohamed Salah to pick up the ball and charge at the Arsenal defence, with the winger skipping past Riccardo Calafiori as he surged into the box. The Egyptian flicked the ball to Florian Wirtz, who cleverly let the ball run across his body, and on his left foot, the German curled his shot into the far corner to make it 1-0.

Arsenal came agonisingly close to levelling the score in added time after a flurry of late set-pieces, but Gabriel could only direct Declan Rice's cross onto the post as Liverpool claimed all three points at Anfield.
