Manchester City take on Wolves at the Etihad Stadium in Pep Guardiola's first game of the new Premier League season.

Manchester City will be looking to start the new Premier League season with three points when Pep Guardiola's side visit Wolves later today.
City showed signs of improvement towards the end of last season after adding to their squad in the January transfer window. And, after more arrivals this summer, Guardiola's side will be looking to challenge for the Premier League title once again in the upcoming campaign.
City starts the new season against Wolves, but Vitor Pereira's side lost both Matheus Cunha and Rayan Ait-Nouri in the summer transfer window, with the latter joining City in June. City won both their games against Wolves last season, beating them 2-1 at Molineux before a 1-0 win at home.
So, can City kick off the new season with three points? We used EA FC 25 to get a score prediction.
Man City vs Wolves score predicted by simulation
To complete this simulation, we used EA FC 25 and updated the squads with the latest injuries, suspensions, and transfers. The kits from the 2025/26 season aren't available in EA FC 25, so both sides lined up in last season's kits, while new transfers may have incorrect squad numbers in-game.
We predict that City could set up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with their line-up as follows: Ederson; Nunes, Dias, Akanji, Ait-Nouri; Gonzalez, Reijnders, Cherki; Foden, Marmoush; Haaland.
We predict that Wolves could line up in a 3-4-2-1 formation, with their starting XI as follows: Sa; Gomes, Agbadou, Doherty; Hoever, Gomes, Andre, Wolfe; Arias, Lopez; Strand Larsen.
City were left scratching their heads as to how they didn't take the lead in the first half, with Erling Haaland alone having seven shots, but the striker and his teammates were struggling to beat Jose Sa. The best opportunity fell to Omar Marmoush when Haaland's shot was parried into his path, but somehow the Egyptian blasted his shot wide of an open goal.
Wolves began the second half on top with Jorgen Strand Larsen having two big chances to score, but Ederson was able to make some decent saves to deny the striker. As the game went on, City became more frustrated, but with 11 minutes to go it was Ait-Nouri who broke the deadlock.

The left-back drifted into the box as City attacked down the right side of the pitch, and the defender was in the right place at the right time as he directed Phil Foden's deflected cross into the bottom corner to haunt his former club.
Tijjani Reijnders struck the post with a long-range effort late on, but the miss didn't prove costly as Guardiola's side picked up the all-important three points.
