Nottingham Forest have the opportunity to heap further pressure on Nuno Espirito Santo when they meet their former boss and his faltering West Ham United outfit in Tuesday's Premier League encounter at the London Stadium.

West Ham endured another setback at the weekend, falling to Wolves - their maiden and sole victory of the Premier League campaign thus far - whilst Forest were thoroughly outplayed by title hopefuls Aston Villa.

Now, Santo - who has previously overseen both Wolves and Forest - confronts the possibility of back-to-back losses against his ex-employers.

Should Tuesday's relegation scrap unfold as poorly as West Ham's journey to Molineux, Santo might discover himself seeking new employment.

Facing a Wolves outfit that had secured merely three points all season, West Ham delivered a woeful display, succumbing 3-0 in a contest Santo branded as "embarrassing" with Mateus Cunha shining for the visitors.

Meanwhile, rumours are intensifying that ex-Hammers chief Slaven Bilic might make a comeback to the London Stadium, rendering Santo's situation ever more vulnerable.

The figures offer little comfort for his cause: West Ham occupy 18th position and will stay within the drop zone irrespective of this week's outcomes.

They remain without victory across nine Premier League fixtures since defeating Burnley in November, suffering defeat in four of their previous five outings.

Santo also possesses the division's lengthiest streak without a clean sheet - 26 matches - and West Ham are yet to record a home shutout this term, shipping 23 goals at the London Stadium. Forest's predicament is less dire, but following a brief revival under Sean Dyche, they have now suffered four consecutive losses during a challenging festive period.

The Tricky Trees concluded 2025 with three back-to-back defeats to Fulham, Manchester City, and Everton, and were soundly defeated 3-1 by Unai Emery's Aston Villa at Villa Park on Saturday, with Ollie Watkins and John McGinn inflicting the damage. Despite this, Dyche's team cannot fall into the bottom three before the weekend but are nonetheless perilously close to the relegation zone.

However, Forest are currently on their joint-longest losing run of the season and could face a fourth consecutive away defeat, having failed to find the net in five Premier League away matches in 2025-26. Earlier in the season, Forest suffered a 3-0 home loss to West Ham under Santo's management, but they had previously secured three successive victories over the Irons, including a 2-1 triumph at the London Stadium last May.
