Everything Arsenal and Manchester City are competing for in the Carabao Cup final

  1. Primary cash reward: The club that emerges victorious in the final at Wembley receives a relatively modest first-place prize of £100,000. While this sum is significantly smaller than the payouts for the FA Cup or Premier League, it still serves as a financial bonus.
  2. European qualification spot: One of the prizes is an automatic place in the play-off round of the UEFA Conference League for the following season. This provides the winning team with a guaranteed route into continental football, albeit of no value to either title contender this year.
  3. The physical trophy: The winners get to lift and display the iconic three-handled silver trophy, which was originally commissioned in 1961 and is valued at approximately £20,000. It is a historic piece of silverware that the club keeps in its possession until a new champion is crowned the following year.
  4. Individual player medals: Each member of the winning squad receives a commemorative winner's medal to mark their achievement in the competition. For Mikel Arteta's squad, a first major trophy since the 2020 FA Cup will be a significant landmark.
  5. Commemorative sleeve badges: The defending champions are entitled to wear a special gold badge on their kits during the competition next season. All former winners also have the right to wear a green legacy badge that indicates the total number of times they have won the cup.
  6. Gate receipt sharing: Under the competition's rules, the two finalists split the net gate receipts from the Wembley final after the EFL takes a 10% cut. For a sold-out match at the national stadium, this revenue share can far exceed the official £100,000 prize money, often reaching seven figures for each club.
  7. Historical legacy and status: Winning the competition ensures the club is added to the official Roll of Honour alongside some of the most successful teams in English history. The Gunners have won the League Cup twice before in 1987 and 1993.
  8. Transfer of European rights: If the winning team has already qualified for the Champions League or Europa League via their league position, their Conference League spot is passed down the Premier League table. That is set to once again be the case this year.
