What Elliot Anderson said on his future amid Manchester United and Man City £100m transfer chase

Elliot Anderson has spoken about speculation linking him with a transfer away from Nottingham Forest. Manchester United and Man City are both interested in the England midfielder

Elliot Anderson insists his only focus is on England - even though he will be at the centre of a £100m transfer battle this summer.

Manchester United are keen on the Nottingham Forest midfielder while they are also facing strong competition from Man City.

Anderson, 23, has become a hot property and Forest will be determined to keep their prize asset. But he insists he will not lose sight of his No1 priority which is going to the World Cup this summer.

Anderson said: “Obviously we’ve got the World Cup this summer so all my eyes are on that. Playing for England, I’ve got the badge on now so that’s all I’m thinking about at the moment.”

Anderson is also facing the prospect of going from a relegation battle with Forest to a World Cup but is ready for the challenge.

He added: “Yeah, definitely. But ultimately all the games are the same, I’m just going on the pitch and trying to give my best and fight for whatever strip I’ve got on. That’s all I’m doing.”

If Anderson indicated a willingness to move to Old Trafford, then United would likely make it happen. They are monitoring a range of midfielders ahead of a summer overhaul, with two new signings likely, but it is understood Anderson would be the ideal signing.

The spanner in the works is that Anderson is also someone that City have looked at, as they continue to reshape Pep Guardiola's squad at the Etihad. The Blues signed Nico Gonzalez, Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Cherki over the last 18 months, but captain Bernardo Silva looks likely to leave this summer and there is now uncertainty over Rodri's future.
