What Reece James did to Jude Bellingham as Enzo Maresca keeps close eye on Chelsea star

There were three Chelsea players were in international duty on Thursday evening/Friday morning with Enzo Maresca keeping tabs on all of them but perhaps one in particular

Reece James was in fine form for England on Thursday evening as the Thomas Tuchel's team secured a comfortable victory over Serbia at Wembley, with Trevoh Chalobah an unused substitute in London.

The Three Lions, who are already qualified for next summer's World Cup, maintained their perfect qualifying record thanks to goals from Arsenal duo Bukayo Saka and Eberechi Eze. James completed the full 90 minutes for England as the Chelsea captain continues to show his improved levels of fitness this season.

There was a special moment in the second-half at Wembley that showed James at his brilliant best. Jude Bellingham, who was recalled to the England squad for this round of fixtures, played the ball into James, who in turn produced an audacious back-heel in his teammate's direction. A fabulous one-two - and the clip has unsurprisingly being doing the rounds on social media, with Chelsea fans left in awe of their captain.

England travel to Albania this weekend in their final World Cup qualifier, looking to make it 10 wins from as many matches. It will be interesting to see if James, who looks to be Tuchel's first-choice right-back at the moment, takes part on Sunday evening or whether the England head coach will do his former club a favour when it comes to managing the defender's minutes/work-load.

Elsewhere, Moises Caicedo played the full 90 minutes for Ecuador as they played out a goalless draw away in Canada in the early hours of Friday morning. The Blues midfielder is not fully fit at the moment - something Enzo Maresca has noted on multiple occasions over the last few weeks - but was not taken off in Canada.

Maresca will be keeping a close eye on Caicedo in particular given his fitness levels over the last few weeks. Ecuador are next in action in the early hours of Wednesday morning as they take on New Zealand. Maresca will be hoping Caicedo can get some sort of rest for that one ahead of Chelsea's Premier League clash with Burnley just a few days later.

There was some form of rest for Malo Gusto, who came on in the 89th minute for France as they cruised to a 4-0 victory over Ukraine on Thursday evening. Two goals from Kylian Mbappe and one each from Michael Olise and Hugo Ekitike ensured a comfortable win for Les Bleus in Paris.

There are set to be a few more Chelsea players representing their countries in the coming days. Josh Acheampong, Tyrique George and Jamie Gittens all could feature for England Under-21s on Friday evening as they take on Republic of Ireland in a qualifying match for UEFA U21 Euro 2027.

Marc Cucurella could feature for Spain against Georgia on Saturday evening, while Andrey Santos, Joao Pedro and Estevao Willian are set to play for Brazil versus Senegal at the Emirates Stadium on the same day. Marc Guiu could play some minutes for Spain Under-21s against San Marino on Friday night.
