Viktor Gyokeres has been introduced to Arsenal fans for the very first time after completing his move from Sporting CP. Following a lot of speculation regarding the Swede moving to the Emirates Stadium over the past few months, the Gunners secured his signature on Saturday evening in a deal that could be worth up to £63.7million.

His transfer to Arsenal unfortunately came too late for him to be involved in Sunday's pre-season friendly match against Newcastle United in Singapore. However, he was present at the National Stadium to watch his new teammates in action after immediately departing for Singapore following the completion of his transfer.

The 27-year-old was introduced to the fans inside the stadium at 7.15pm, with all attending the friendly advised to be in their seats very early to give the new signing a huge welcome. Gyokeres proved to be a very popular figure as Arsenal supporters have been desperate for him to sign on the dotted line in the club's quest to find a proven goalscorer.

Just after 7.15pm an image of Gyokeres appeared on the big screen and all fans stood up in anticipation of their new hero emerging from the tunnel. When it came to his big moment, the Swede, who was decked out in his new Arsenal No.14 shirt, had a beaming smile on his face and then the noise inside the stadium hit new levels altogether.

Gyokeres walked to the centre of the pitch and waved to the Arsenal fans in attendance before turning back and making his way towards the tunnel. Prior to going in, he threw an Arsenal shirt into the crowd and also posed for a picture with the new Arsenal away kit in front of supporters.

Speaking to the club's official website, Mikel Arteta delivered his verdict on his new player and mentioned that the club are "excited" about what the striker can bring to the squad.

“We’re absolutely delighted to welcome Viktor Gyokeres to the club," said the Spaniard. "The consistency he has shown in his performances and availability have been outstanding, and his goal contributions speak for themselves.

“Viktor has so many qualities. He is a quick and powerful presence up front, with incredible goalscoring numbers at club and international levels. He brings a clinical edge with a high conversion rate of chances into goals, with his intelligent movement in the box making him a constant threat.

“We’re excited about what Viktor brings to our squad and are looking forward to start working with him. We welcome Viktor and his family to Arsenal.”
