Fight erupts at Etihad Stadium during Manchester City v Leeds match

  • A police probe is underway after a fight broke out between fans at the Manchester City v Leeds match. The brawl broke out inside the Etihad Stadium during the game on Saturday (November 29).
  • Greater Manchester Police confirmed five people had been arrested on suspicion of affray with an investigation underway into reports of a fight. All five have been bailed while the probe continues.
  • Several Manchester City fans posted on X, formerly Twitter, to claim that City fans had been 'battered' by 'Leeds fans in the home end of the stadium'.
  • But an official City club account said that the incident 'did not involve Leeds fans'. They said the injuries in the incident 'were nowhere near as serious' as the 'rumours' that had been circulating on social media, one of which alleged a fan had broken their leg.
  • In response, the official X account for Man City fan support replied: "We are aware of an incident that took place at the Etihad Stadium yesterday between a group of fans. From the information that has been provided to the club by the relevant authorities and through internal investigations, we can confirm that this incident did not involve Leeds fans and that the injuries were nowhere near as serious as the inaccurate rumours which have circulated online. This matter is subject to an ongoing police investigation."
