Liverpool will discover its Champions League last-16 opponent later this week, with UEFA set to make the draw on Friday (February 27) following the conclusion of the play-off ties.

On Tuesday, Atletico Madrid will play Club Brugge, and on Wednesday, Juventus hosts Galatasaray. The winner of one tie will play Liverpool and the winner of the other will take on Spurs, with both Premier League clubs having finished inside the top four in the group phase.

The other games are Bayer Leverkusen vs. Olympiacos, Inter Milan vs. Bodo/Glimt, Newcastle vs. Qarabag, Atalanta vs. Borussia Dortmund, PSG vs. AS Monaco, and Real Madrid vs. Benfica.

The Champions League last-16 draw will take place at 11am UK time (4am ET) on Friday, with all the ties to be concluded on Wednesday (February 25).

Liverpool will be away from home for the first leg of its tie on March 10 or 11. It will then host the return fixture at Anfield on March 17 or 18.

The draw, which is to be held in Nyon, Switzerland, will also map out the potential quarterfinals and semifinals for all clubs, meaning Liverpool will know its full potential route to the final.

This year, the showpiece event is to be held in Budapest, Hungary, giving Dominik Szoboszlai and Milos Kerkez some extra motivation to reach the final two.

"If you look at the teams that are still in the competition, because there are a few obviously out, I think Bayern Munich and Arsenal are looking really solid," former Liverpool winger Bolo Zenden told The Redmen TV earlier this month.

"We’ve seen Arsenal, obviously, also in the Premier League doing really well, but then again, the favourites don’t always win this tournament, and Liverpool on their day, or on the night, can always produce something special.

"So why not? But it’s not going to be an easy road, and it also depends, obviously, on the draw that comes along.

"We’ve seen last year that, for example, Paris Saint-Germain just qualified on matchday eight and in the end they won the competition by 5-0 in the final.

"So it would have, no one would have expected this. So yeah, of course, anything is possible."

In addition to going far in this season's competition, Liverpool also needs to qualify for next year's edition. The Reds are currently sixth in the Premier League standings, behind Chelsea on goal difference.
