Why is Crystal Palace v Man Utd at noon on Sunday?

3 hours ago 33

Crystal Palace's meeting with Manchester United on Sunday at Selhurst Park will take place at 12pm (GMT) on Sunday because of television selections.

The match was originally scheduled to be a 12:30pm kick-off on Saturday, as TNT Sports' selection for this weekend's matches.

However, with Crystal Palace facing a trip to French side Strasbourg on Thursday night, the match was pushed back by 24 hours.

It also means that the Premier League games that were scheduled to start at 2pm on Sunday will now start at 2:05pm, in a bid to reduce any overlap from the Selhurst Park clash ending and the three mid-afternoon matches starting.

There are also midweek matches happening in the days after this weekend's game, further limiting any room for moving fixtures around in the schedule.

The Premier League attempts to schedule no team to play two matches within 60 hours of each other.

Palace's meeting with Manchester United kicks off 64 hours after the start of their midweek visit to Strasbourg.

Oliver Glasner's side then play on Wednesday away at Burnley, with United's midweek game a day later on Thursday at home to West Ham.
