Why Viktor Gyokeres' agent is 'hurt' as Arsenal transfer agreement edges closer

1 day ago 35

Viktor Gyokeres' agent is said to be 'hurt' at Manchester United and Ruben Amorim as the Sporting CP striker edges closer to a move to Arsenal.

The 27-year-old is on the verge of moving to the Emirates Stadium, although a few finer details still need to be ironed out. football.london understands that an agreement has been reached in principle in a deal worth €63.5million (£55million) guaranteed plus €10million (£8.7million) in add-ons.

The structure of the deal, how the add-ons would be activated, and how easily, still need to be agreed, however. This is why Gyokeres' move to the Premier League has been delayed, with Mikel Arteta and his squad now in Singapore for their pre-season tour.

The delay has led to some reports in Portugal linking Gyokeres to Manchester United. The Swedish star thrived under Amorim at Sporting and it has been said the two could link up again, but this time at Old Trafford.

TheManchester Evening News reported on Monday that Man Utd have no intention of making an offer for Gyokeres, with focus firmly on other targets. The club have already brought Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo to Manchester this transfer window.

With Gyokeres sitting tight and waiting for the green light to travel to either Asia or London for his medical, the feelings of his agent, Hasan Cetinkaya, have emerged in the Portuguese press. According to Portuguese publication Record, Cetinkaya feels 'hurt" over the current situation at Manchester United.

The Turkish businessman is also the representative of fellow Sweden international Victor Lindelof, who was not offered a new United contract this summer after eight years of service. Lindelof wanted to stay at the club but instead left as a free agent.

Cetinkaya is described as upset over the way in which his client was let go and further so over Amorim's alleged actions given that he pushed for Gyokeres to join Amorim's Sporting two summers ago. It's said 'the door has been closed' from Gyokeres' side to join United, with the striker only wanting Arsenal.

Arsenal will want a deal for Gyokeres wrapped up in the coming days, with the Gunners set to play AC Milan on Wednesday, Newcastle on Sunday and then Tottenham next Thursday. The north Londoners will then welcome Villarreal and Athletic Club to Emirates Stadium in August and it is these two games where we may see Gyokeres in an Arsenal shirt for the first time.
