Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola was booked during the 3-1 victory over Newcastle United in the FA Cup
Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola has received a two-match ban after picking up his sixth yellow card of the season. Guardiola was cautioned at Newcastle United after referee Sam Barrott denied Jeremy Doku a free kick. The City boss protested the decision on the touchline before being booked.
As it was his sixth booking, Guardiola will be banned from the touchline for the Premier League clash at West Ham next weekend and the FA Cup quarter-final on either April 4 or 5. The suspension does not carry over into European matches, meaning Guardiola will be pitchside against Real Madrid in the Champions League round of 16.
It also does not cover the Carabao Cup final, so Guardiola will be in the dugout when City take on Arsenal at Wembley Stadium later this month. After the victory at Newcastle, City's head coach joked he would go on holiday during his two-match suspension.

"When Jeremy Doku dribbles past (Kieran) Trippier and goes alone to the box and is being pulled form behind, I'm not asking for a yellow card but please - it's a foul," he said. "I will defend my team. We have all the records in this country - all of them.
"Despite everything, we have all of them. And we have the record of the manager with the most yellow cards. I have always wanted this record and now I have it. Two games banned now and I will go on holidays." Guardiola added: "Oh my God. Oh, my, God.

The Carabao Cup Final will see Arsenal v Manchester City at London's Wembley Stadium this March.
"There are things that still after ten years I cannot understand. Review the action, review the action. Of course I'm going to defend Doku, and all my teams. They continue to do it."
Earlier this season, Guardiola was banned for one match after picking up three yellow cards. His third, against Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League, meant he watched the FA Cup third round tie vs Exeter City in the stands as the Blues ran out 10-1 winners.
