William Saliba's reaction to fresh Arsenal injury blow says it all amid Mikel Arteta update

Arsenal beat Brentford 2-0 in the Premier League on Wednesday but were handed another two potential injury blows to add to their growing list of problems on the treatment table

William Saliba's reaction to Arsenal's latest injury blow was spotted during their win over Brentford.

The Gunners claimed a 2-0 victory over the Bees in the Premier League on Wednesday night thanks to goals from Mikel Merino and Bukayo Saka.

Mikel Arteta's side restored their five-point lead at the top of the Premier League table with their victory over Brentford, with their advantage having been reduced to two points for 24 hours after Manchester City's 5-4 win over Fulham on Tuesday.

Despite Arsenal securing the victory and returning to winning ways, it was not a perfect night for the Gunners.

Both Cristhian Mosquera and Declan Rice left the pitch during the win over the Bees with suspected injury concerns.

Saliba missed the match with a block, but was still watching on from the stands alongside his Arsenal team-mates to support his colleagues in the important fixture.

TV footage showed Mosquera receiving treatment on the pitch, before the cameras focused on Saliba, who could be seen shaking his head in frustration. The Frenchman seemingly couldn't believe Arsenal were suffering from yet another injury, and especially at centre-back given he and Gabriel Magalhaes are both out right now.

Arteta offered an update on Mosquera's fitness after the blow, with the former Valencia star now Arsenal's third central defender on the sidelines.

"Mosquera is the other one that is out," Arteta said. "Obviously we have big Gabi [Magalhaes] and Willy [Saliba] out as well. So we have to adapt.

"It's been a theme of this season. But when I look at the players, they haven't been playing much."

On Mosquera's situation, he added: "We have to wait and see. It's probably the knee or ankle. We don't know. He could not really tell us exactly how it was, but he wasn't able to continue."

Arsenal are still dealing with several injury concerns despite the return of Martin Odegaard, Noni Madueke and Viktor Gyokeres in recent days.

Saliba, Gabriel, Leandro Trossard and Kai Havertz were all unavailable to face Brentford on Wednesday evening.

With Mosquera and Rice potentially being added to the injury list, it's not a surprise that Saliba may have expressed his frustration over more fitness concerns emerging.

Arsenal will now prepare to face an untimely away trip to high-flying Aston Villa in the Premier League this Saturday (12.30pm) as they look to maintain or extend their lead over Man City at the top of the table.

Should Villa win, however, even they will move to within just three points of the Gunners, following their 4-3 victory at Brighton on Wednesday night.
