The final month of the transfer window is upon us - with Premier League action also returning this month.
It's just under two weeks until Chelsea's first game of the new season. The Blues host Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, August 17 (2pm kick-off).
That game could see some players make their competitive debuts for the club following some transfer moves in the window, so far. Joao Pedro, Jamie Gittens and Liam Delap are among those to complete a move to Stamford Bridge already this summer.
The Blues have also seen some names move on with Noni Madueke, Joao Felix and Djordje Petrovic among those to leave the club. Ahead of the first game of the season, Chelsea continue to work on transfers.
With that in mind, we've taken a look at a couple of the latest headlines;
Xavi Simons agreement 'almost done'
A verbal agreement over a high-profile deal which will see RB Leipzig forward Xavi Simons join the club is 'almost done', according to Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg. The Blues have been busy working on a deal to snap-up the Dutchman this summer and have made progress in talks for the playmaker.
The journalist reckons a verbal agreement has almost been reached - and that Chelsea are now ready to submit an official offer. They will, however, need to offload players before completing the deal.
It's also added that the deal is independent of the club's ongoing interest in Alejandro Garnacho.
football.london says: Having a move lined up for Simons for when they are able to move players on is a good thing for Chelsea. Now, their task will be finding new homes for the players who don't have a future at the club.
Young players such as Marc Guiu and Tyrique George are expected to go out on loan, with permanent deals for Raheem Sterling and Armando Broja preferred.
Chelsea 'admire' winger linked to Everton
Chelsea are among the club's who admire Lyon winger, Malick Fofana, according to BBC Sport's Nizaar Kinsella.
Everton were heavily linked with an interest in the player - but are said to be struggling to convince him to make the move to Merseyside. They have since turned their attention to Southampton's Tyler Dibling.
That could allow Chelsea to make their move.
football.london says: It feels like - if Chelsea do act on their interest in Fofana - then would depend on of they can push through transfers for Xavi Simons and Alejandro Garnacho and what exits are on the cards at Stamford Bridge.
If they do move on to the Lyon man, then the Blues will be able to offer him Champions League football which should put them ahead of Everton in the race.
