Manchester City have now expressed an interest in Chelsea target Xavi Simons, football.london understands.
The Blues remain locked in talks with the German club for Simons, who has a broad agreement on personal terms with the west Londoners. However, there have been a few players linked with a move away from Man City in recent days, including attackers Savinho and James McAtee, with Tottenham and Nottingham Forest, respectively, keen on the duo.
The priority for Simons remains Chelsea despite the interest from City, who sources have described as 'in the race' for the Netherlands international. Meanwhile, RB Leipzig have enquired about Christopher Nkunku, with the 27-year-old wanting to move on from Stamford Bridge this summer.
Leipzig are interested in re-signing Nkunku and have asked about the Frenchman in negotiations with Chelsea over Simons.. Nkunku, who is said to be open to returning to Germany, left Leipzig for Chelsea just over two years ago and could now return to the Red Bull Arena. There is also keen interest in the Frenchman from elsewhere in the Premier League, as well as multiple clubs from overseas.

Meanwhile, Newcastle United are considering making a move for Nicolas Jackson. The Senegalese striker wants to leave Stamford Bridge this summer and was left out of the squad for pre-season matches against Bayer Leverkusen and AC Milan recently.
Chelsea will sell Jackson for the right price, although would equally be happy if he was to stay beyond the transfer window with the club still valuing the striker very highly. Newcastle are looking to bring a new No.9 to the club with Alexander Isak wanting to join Liverpool this summer - and that deal is set to have a big impact on Jackson's future.
