Yan Diomande has admitted he is likely to leave RB Leipzig at some point, which could come as a boost to Liverpool amid Mohamed Salah’s ongoing struggles.

Diomande has been linked with a move to the Reds, along with a host of other clubs, after taking the Bundesliga by storm in his debut season in Germany.

The 19-year-old has nine goals and seven assists from 25 appearances, having only joined Leipzig from Spanish side Leganes last summer, and his form looks to have attracted the attention of some of Europe’s biggest clubs, with Liverpool among those touted as a potential option.

Rumors about a move to Anfield come amid what has been disappointing season for Salah, with speculation growing that he could be playing his final season for the Reds. The Egyptian has of course been heavily linked with a move to Saudi Arabia for some time, while other options, such as a return to Italy, have been suggested.

Salah’s latest performance in Liverpool’s late win over Nottingham Forest will have raised concerns over his form, with the 33-year-old looking less than impressed after being substituted by Arne Slot with 13 minutes to go.

Diomande has been touted as a potential long-term replacement for Salah this summer, and Liverpool might be encouraged to hear the teenager already planning for life after Leipzig.

“I don’t make these decisions alone. One thing I can promise: I’ll never argue with my club!” Diomande told Bild.

“Of course, I probably won’t end my career here [Leipzig]. When the time comes, we’ll talk. But if I stay here this summer, I’ll be absolutely happy.”

Diomande’s admission came as the winger revealed he has already turned down a move to one of the Reds’ rivals, having been approached by Chelsea while still in Spain.

“It was a difficult time. I felt like for many people, it was all about money,” Diomande explained.

“A lot of people told me I absolutely had to play for Chelsea. Then I stopped everything and made a decision for myself.

“I knew the president of Leganes; he had helped with my move to the USA. Suddenly, I was faced with a choice: Leganes or Chelsea? It was risky, but luckily, it was the right decision. I think patience is very important in football.

“It’s not always just about money. If you play well, it will come naturally. I’m young; I need to play to increase my sporting value, to improve. And I wouldn’t get that on the bench.”
