Alasdair Gold has provided the details of Yves Bissouma’s injury while playing for Mali on Sunday, and things are not looking good for the Tottenham man.

The midfielder is yet to feature for Spurs this season, being sidelined with a knee injury since the start of the summer.

As luck would have it, Bissouma picked up an injury in his first competitive match of the season on Sunday, lasting just six minutes after coming on in the second half for Mali in their win over Madagascar.

It has now been confirmed that the Tottenham man has not reinjured the same knee, but the details of his new injury are not promising, to say the least.

Tottenham midfielder Yves Bissouma was in a lot of pain

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has now revealed that the Tottenham man intercepted a loose pass from a Madagascar corner and was on the receiving end of a tackle when he tried to emerge with a ball.

Gold reveals that Bissouma crumpled to the floor and appeared to be in a lot of pain and distress, holding his left ankle.

The midfielder reportedly pulled his shirt over his head as his teammates were seen trying to console him, and he had to be stretchered off as he was unable to walk.

Gold points out that the former Brighton man had a stress fracture in the same ankle in 2023, which required surgery.

Has Bissouma’s injury scuppered the chance of a January transfer?

Bissouma’s knee injury was the reason why his proposed summer move to Turkey fell through in the summer, and it looks like it may be Deja Vu for the 28-year-old.

Clubs have reportedly been queueing up to land the Tottenham man in January, but the severity of his latest injury may put a mid-season move in jeopardy.

With Bissouma’s current deal running out next summer, Spurs’ hopes of getting a fee for the midfielder may be over if this injury keeps him out for a few months.
