AC Milan beat Inter this weekend, and Cristian Chivu was asked about the defeat ahead of their Champions League clash.
There has been a lot said about the derby, and a lot of it has praised Milan. They struck at the moment they needed to, and defended solidly throughout. It was a textbook Massimiliano Allegri win, and it now puts the Rossoneri into a great position.
Put simply, they have the best record against the other ‘top’ teams in the league, whilst also sitting quite comfortably in the table.
Chivu compliments Milan
This weekend’s result was another positive step towards the Champions League, and perhaps more, as they beat another contender in both races, whilst keeping the gap to the top slim. It also means that the streak against the Nerazzurri continues.

Speaking ahead of the game against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League, Chivu was asked about the game, and as MilanNews relays, he was quite complimentary.
“The beauty of football is that there’s always a chance for revenge. We showed quality and determination in the derby, and perhaps we lacked a bit of clarity and luck. We showed maturity, concentration, and quality, but perhaps we lacked a bit of clarity in front of the goal.
“We managed to take away 99% of Milan’s strengths; that 1% was enough, and we hope to fill that gap in our upcoming matches. Tomorrow we have an important Champions League match ahead of us; we know how difficult it is at their home ground.”
