Liverpool will host Leeds United in the Premier League, with Arne Slot and Daniel Farke set to be missing some key men for the fixture, including Mohamed Salah and Alexander Isak

Liverpool could further establish itself in the Premier League's top four with a win over Leeds United at Anfield later today, with Daniel Farke's side languishing near the bottom of the standings.

Only a few weeks ago, Leeds staged a dramatic comeback against Liverpool to draw 3-3 at Elland Road. That game was overshadowed by Mohamed Salah's comments in the mixed zone after the final whistle.

Several players could miss out this time around, though Dominik Szoboszlai will return from a one-game suspension. The Hungarian sat out Liverpool's win over Wolves having reached five bookings so far this season.

Giovanni Leoni and Alexander Isak are long-term absentees, while Salah is away at AFCON with Egypt. Joe Gomez is a doubt but should return soon, while Wataru Endo has an ankle issue.

Stefan Bajcetic and Jayden Danns would both have been on the bench were they fit, but there has been no update on either for a while. Arne Slot is likely to drop Federico Chiesa and could hand Jeremie Frimpong another start.

For Leeds, Joe Rodon will be out having limped off last time out. He had played every minute in the Premier League up to that point and will be a big miss for Farke.

Midfielder Sean Longstaff and winger Daniel James are also out. The latter has not had surgery on a thigh issue but will be sidelined for a few weeks.

Last time Liverpool played Leeds, a late collapse proved costly. Slot says his team needs to get better at controlling games again.

"A way to have game management is also having the opportunity to make substitutions," he said ahead of the game. "Maybe to bring an extra defender in or these kind of things.

"Last year a lot of times when we were 2-1 up, or one goal up, I brought Wataru Endo in.

"I already said, I don't know if everybody notices it, but we miss quite a lot of players. That's why it's so special for these players [who] are fit that they are bringing these results in.

"I don't prefer to cope with another day like that (the 3-3 draw last month). But it's part of our lives in football. We have highs and lows, so we have to accept that.

"What I mainly took and take from it is that we struggled a lot, or much more, when they went to a four when they started to play 4-3-3 in the last 20 minutes of the game.

"That's also when they scored their goals. OK, the first one was another VAR intervention, but the second one was a really good goal from them.

"The third one was a set-piece. But we struggled more when they played with four than when they played with five [at the back]. I will definitely look at both, but especially the moment when they went to a four at the back."
