Whether it is transfers - both incoming and outgoing - new kit launches and pre-season friendlies, it will be all systems go across the next few weeks as Manchester City gear up for the 2025/26 season.

After a trophyless season last term, Pep Guardiola will be keen to ensure no stone has been left unturned in City's pursuit of success.

With that in mind, here is a look at what has already happened at City this summer.

£111m triple deal

City moved quickly to complete three major signings before they jetted off to the USA to compete in the Club World Cup last month.

New sporting director Hugo Viana wrapped up a £31million deal for Wolves left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri, a £34million deal for Lyon playmaker Rayan Cherki and a £46.5million deal for AC Milan midfielder Tijjani Reijnders.

All three players have already featured prominently in the City side and should be in a stronger position to fully integrate with the squad ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Goalkeeper reshuffle

There had been talk of City refreshing their goalkeeping department amid talk of both Ederson and Stefan Ortega leaving the club.

As it transpired, it looks like the pair are set to stay and the only change has been their third choice goalkeeper. Scott Carson has left the club on a free transfer after six seasons and has been replaced by Marcus Bettinelli, who has joined on a free transfer from Chelsea.

Club World Cup disappointment

City entered the inaugural Club World Cup in the United States as one of the favourites to win the competition and they took it seriously given the financial rewards available to them.

It was also a chance to integrate new signings and after they breezed through the group stage as the only club to win all three of their matches, optimism was growing that they could go all the way.

However, a shock extra-time defeat to Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal saw them exit the competition at the last 16 stage and now City have had an extra two weeks to rest, while Chelsea were crowned champions just three days ago.

Club legends leave

Kevin De Bruyne and Kyle Walker have played huge roles in Pep Guardiola's success during his nine seasons at City but as a new era was ushered in, their departures felt symbolic.

De Bruyne left amid much fanfare and appreciation at the end of last season after City chose not to renew his contract.

City have commissioned a statue to be built in honour of the Belgium international and he will now ply his trade with Italian champions Napoli.

Meanwhile, Walker left the club on loan in January to take up a new challenge in Italy of his own, joining AC Milan on a loan deal with the option to make it permanent.

His spell in Milan was indifferent and after they lost the Coppa Italia final and failed to qualify for Europe next season, Walker returned to England this summer.

He has since joined Burnley, bringing to an end an eight-year association with City.

£1bn kit deal

Manchester City have agreed what is believed to be the highest value Premier League kit deal in history after signing an extension with PUMA that could eventually be worth £1billion.

The extension will see PUMA continue to make City kits for at least 10 more years, with the deal valued at £100million a season, which is thought to make it the highest in Premier League history.

The partnership between City and PUMA began in 2019/20, when an initial 10-year deal worth £65million a year was agreed. That has now been extended to at the least 2034/35 season, with the significant financial uptick a sign of the success City have had on the pitch and some of the record-breaking sales of shirts over the previous six seasons.

Pep wants to trim the squad

Guardiola wants to trim the City squad and work is under way now to make some difficult decisions.

Kalvin Phillips, Jack Grealish and James McAtee are all free to find a new club but decisions could be taken on a number of other players.

Ilkay Gundogan and Nico Gonzalez have been linked with moves away from the club, while the likes of John Stones, Matheus Nunes, Oscar Bobb, Claudio Echeverri and Vitor Reis could be the subject of interest - whether it is for permanent exits or loan moves away from the club.

Pre-season plan takes shape

City had to re-jig their summer plans after their early Club World Cup exit. City's players will return for pre-season training later this month and a pre-season friendly with Palermo in Italy has been pencilled in for Saturday, August 9.

It remains to be seen at this stage whether any other friendlies will be pencilled in prior to the opening Premier League game of the season away at Wolves on Saturday, August 16.
