Fikayo Tomori could be reborn under Massimiliano Allegri, and the defender will hope to get back to playing near his best for AC Milan.
This summer, Allegri has chosen to use Tomori quite regularly, both in a central position and also out wide. However, with a new right-back, the Englishman will likely be shifted back into his favoured role, at least you’d hope.
Whilst he was solid enough against Liverpool, he certainly did not lock down the right-hand side, but this is to be expected, really. Nevertheless, he seems to be enjoying working with Allegri, which could mean he stays put.
Tomori’s review
Last season, there were several suggestions that he could leave, and these ideas are still present – that he could leave to allow the purchase of another defender. However, it may be a lessening idea because of the early pre-season games.
After the Liverpool game, the Englishman spoke to Milan TV.
“Winning any game brings a good feeling. We played well, and we’re happy because it contributes to our development during pre-season. So we’re happy and now head to Perth to play our final game and end the tour.

“The coach is always precise with his instructions and what he requires of me and the team. We’re a bit more robust now in the defensive phase, and I’d say we now have more confidence when defending because we know we have good strikers up front.
“Our physical condition is much better compared to two weeks ago. We feel good on the pitch, and beating Liverpool, who are a good team, is nice.”
