Igli Tare has explained why he and the AC Milan management are thrilled to get a deal for Samuele Ricci over the line.

Tare was the one who ended up getting the Ricci operation over the line as the sporting director who arrived at the start of the summer. In truth, though, it is a long-standing appreciation from Milan that has come to fruition, given the links dating back four years to when he was at Empoli.

In the end the Italian midfielder has ended up with the Rossoneri, and Fabrizio Romano among others confirmed it will be a €25m package, which is broken down into a €23m fixed amount and then the rest in add-ons.

Tare spoke to journalists at the beginning of a press conference at Casa Milan which presented Ricci as a new signing, and his brief comments were relayed by MilanNews.

“Today we’re here to introduce our new midfielder, Samuele Ricci. He’s our first signing this season. Samuele is a modern player with a lot of personality. In fact, he was Torino’s captain,” he said.

“He’s shown quality on and off the pitch, and he’s also made ten appearances for Italy. He deserved to wear this shirt – it’s an investment for the present and future. We hope he can become a key figure for AC Milan in the future.”
