Abisso will officiate Milan’s game against Cagliari – his record with the Rossoneri

Rosario Abisso will officiate AC Milan’s clash against Cagliari on Friday, as confirmed by the AIA, and the Rossoneri have a very positive record with the referee.

Given some of the officiating controversies we have seen this season, a lot of focus has often been placed on the referee for each game. Of course, whether you get an experienced or an inexperienced referee does make a difference, but at least things should be good tomorrow.

As confirmed by AIA, the 40-year-old Rosario Abisso has been assigned the game between Milan and Cagliari on Friday evening. While he isn’t among the top referees, he has been around for a long time and thus has a lot of experience.

Positive record so far

Taking a look at Abisso’s record with Milan, he has officiated eleven games involving them, with the first one dating back to the 2016-17 season. Seven of these games ended in wins for the Rossoneri, while there were also two draws and two defeats.

Interestingly, that first game in 2016-17 was also Cagliari-Milan, while Abisso has since officiated the fixture four times. He certainly seems to be a bit of an expert on the Rossoneri in Sardinia, in other words.

The most recent game was the 3-2 win against Parma at the start of last year (2025), when Milan came back from 1-2 down with two stoppage-time goals to win. Abisso also awarded a penalty to the Rossoneri in this game, penalising the goalkeeper Zion Suzuki for a push on Strahinja Pavlovic.

Four red cards (including second yellows) have been handed to Milan by Abisso, while he has also given them eight penalties. In terms of controversies, there aen’t any in recent history at least, unless you count Olivier Giroud’s red card for dissent against Lecce.
