AC Milan lost by a goal in the friendly against Virtus Entella this afternoon, after taking the lead twice; the game ended 3-2 to the visitors.
Massimiliano Allegri mixed several senior players with a few Futuro options for the friendly against Virtus this afternoon. Christian Pulisic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Youssouf Fofana, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Jashari, Pervis Estupinan and Pietro Terracciano were all selected.
More than anything, it was a chance for Milan to get some match fitness for their players, after all, the Rossoneri were calling upon some players who had recently returned from injuries and had not played much football.
However, there were some disappointing performances from a few senior players. Ones that need scrutinising.
Match report: Milan vs. Virtus
Things started quite positively, with the Rossoneri having a few early chances, and the first goal came inside 10 minutes. Christian Pulisic was slipped in by Magrassi – with a delightful ball, we should add – and he slotted it under the ‘keeper’s legs.
The following 20 minutes were quite back and forward, with Virtus threatening a little more with time, and they eventually made the Diavolo pay.
A sloppy error from Youssouf Fofana on the edge of the box saw him dispossessed by the Entella centre forward, who finished well from the left side of the box. Really, really poor from Fofana, whose season is not going as he’d hope.
Allegri’s side ended the half well, looking dangerous. However, they could not make the difference, despite a few efforts to do so. At half-time, the Italian opted to make a few changes, Lorenzo Torriani for Terracciano, Chaka Traore for Magrassi and Branca for Loftus-Cheek.
The second period started as the first had ended, with the Rossoneri going forward with purpose, and they eventually took the lead once again. Traore ran down the left with purpose and put a fantastic ball into the box, which Borsani put home easily.
It would not last for long, though, as Entella levelled within 10 minutes. A mistake by Jashari and Torriani was left helpless, as Boccadamo scored.
As the game came towards its end, both teams had a few half-chances. However, it would be Entella who grabbed a winner. Portanova took advantage of a poorly organised Diavolo defence, before playing in Debenedetti, who scored with a nice finish.
A poor result, with some poor performances. However, again, this was a game to test fitness, and 90 minutes for Jashari and Pulisic is really solid ahead of the Derby next week.
