AC Milan’s defence leading the line in Serie A: xG against, shots against and more

AC Milan have been very resilient at the back so far this season, combining a solid foundation with individual brilliance up front. Indeed, the Rossoneri have the best defence in the league. 

Massimiliano Allegri’s men have conceded just three goals this season, two of which came in the opener against Cremonese and one against Napoli. Roma have done one better with two goals conceded, but in terms of defensive stats, the Rossoneri lead the line.

As highlighted by Sky Italia, Milan have made sure not to give their opponents many chances to find the back of the net. Even in exposed situations, such as the opponent winning back the ball in the attacking half, the Rossoneri have been able to keep them at bay.

In short, Milan have the best defence in Serie A when looking at the performance, and not just the number of goals conceded. Hopefully, the Rossoneri can keep this up for the remainder of the season. If so, they will definitely be in the running for the Scudetto.
