AC Milan completed the signing of Samuele Ricci on Thursday afternoon, and former Rossonero Demetrio Albertini has spoken about his arrival.

In reality, Ricci needs no introduction. The Italian has been one of the better Serie A midfielders in the past few years, and at just 23 years old, the future looks bright for him. In turn, it does for Milan too. However, it is a two-way street.

As much as the Rossoneri need to help him develop, he also needs to commit himself to the cause, and this is the message from Albertini today, as ANSA via MilanNews relays.

“I hope for him that he doesn’t take it as a point of arrival, but a point of departure: it’s an opportunity. When you arrive in a big team, many times you think you’re good, but instead you have to take it as if to say ‘You’re good, but it gives you the opportunity to play on a stage and for something even more important’, so he should play all his cards.”

Ricci plan

Massimiliano Allegri has already identified the role for Ricci in his team, preferring him as one of the more advanced midfielders, rather than sitting as the pivot, which is held for Luka Modric. The groundwork is already starting, with the midfielder at Milanello yesterday for introductions.

If anything, the signs are already there that this will be seen as the next step in his progression, rather than the final one.
