Alexander Isak made a dramatic switch from Newcastle to Liverpool on the final day of the transfer window.
The forward had effectively downed tools at St. James' Park to secure his move to Anfield. In addition to training separately from the first-team squad, the Swedish international also released a statement amid the turmoil, claiming that promises made to him by the North East club had been "broken" and "the relationship can't continue."
It seems one of his former colleagues may still hold resentment over Isak's conduct during his final months at Newcastle. Despite Isak being considered one of Europe's top forwards, Sandro Tonali overlooked him when selecting his "Ultimate 11."
Tonali, a firm favorite amongst the Toon Army, once hailed Isak as "the best striker in the world."
But when it came to picking his team, he chose to include only one forward - Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
However, despite the fans' animosity toward Isak, Dan Burn insisted there was nothing but affection for the Swede within the dressing room following his confirmed move to Anfield.
"It's only natural, Alex is probably one of the best three strikers in the world at the moment, and as a Newcastle fan personally, obviously, you'd love him to want to stay," he said.
"But I know that's football and there's players who've come and gone from Newcastle before.
"Alex is my mate at the end of the day, so it was a tough situation, but I'm glad that we're getting a good return on a player that we've had and he's getting the move that he wanted.
"He put a message in the chat just saying that he was leaving and thanks for the memories, all that sort of stuff, and the lads replied.
"I think Alex is getting what he wants and now we've just got to focus and do what we can with the players that we've got."
Isak has found it difficult to make an immediate impact at Liverpool.
Having joined the club lacking match fitness, he has netted just once in eight appearances and recently sat out four fixtures due to a groin problem.
Isak will represent Sweden during the international break after recovering from injury.
