Alexander Isak has admitted he expected more from himself in his start at Liverpool, while also suggesting he still doesn’t feel physically fit after missing pre-season.
The striker has had a tough introduction to life at Anfield following his record-breaking move from Newcastle on deadline day. He has just two goals to his name from 12 appearances, with his first Premier League strike for the Reds coming last weekend against West Ham.
Despite finally breaking his duck, Isak still looks a long way off the sort of form he showed back at St. James’ Park, particularly after a fairly anonymous showing against Sunderland in midweek.
The 26-year-old has left plenty of questions about his place in the side, given he is vying with Hugo Ekitike to start up front for Liverpool, as well as the way in which he secured his move to Anfield, having effectively gone on strike back at Newcastle.
That led to him having to train alone for much of pre-season before he eventually got his move, and he still doesn’t look to have gotten up to speed with the rest of his teammates, despite Arne Slot insisting that he can now be judged properly after his first few months with the club.
"It's not been easy, of course, individually and also collectively,” Isak admitted to Sky Sports.
“We've not had the best results lately. Of course, I wish more from me as well, so I think that's pretty obvious. I'm trying to stay positive, we as a team as well, it's a really good group, and we're just looking forward and trying to do better as a team.”
Isak added: "I expect to do much more, of course, I always do that. Even when I do really well, I want more, so that's not a problem for me.

“But yeah, I'm trying to stay positive, trying to work to do better, and that's what we're looking to do.
“I think obviously I'm the first one to know, and I know best when I'm doing good and when I'm not doing good. So I don't need anyone to tell me how I'm doing, so that's not a problem for me."
Despite being at Liverpool for three months now, Isak has also admitted that he still doesn’t feel fully fit, which will come as a worry for the Reds after his recent groin injury.
Asked if he has felt at 100 percent at any stage yet for Liverpool, Isak responded: "I would probably say no, physically. I probably haven't felt at my best.
"That's not really the way I judge myself either. When I'm on the pitch, I want to do well anyway. But yeah, obviously, there's more of me."
