Liverpool may have signaled its long-term intentions at the goalkeeper position when the club signed then-Valencia shotstopper Giorgi Mamardashvili for £25 million ($33.6 million) i.n the summer of 2024.

Mamardashvili, 25, still remains the Reds understudy to the 33-year-old Alisson, once the Yashin Award winner. The Brazilian goalkeeper missed Wednesday's 2-0 Champions League loss to PSG as he continues to recover from a hamstring injury.

Despite his continued injury issues one outlet is reporting that Juventus are interested in signing Alisson this summer. The Italian giant originally considered making a move in January before settling for the options already in house, and Alisson is reportedly "open" to the move.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Juventus are preparing a three-year offer for Alisson, who has just a single year left on his deal at Liverpool after the season.

Juventus started the 2025/26 season with Michele de Gregorio starting in goal, but he lost his job in March under new coach Luciano Spalletti for veteran Mattia Perin.

The Old Lady was once famed for its goalkeeping play — former Italian international Gianluigi Buffon started in net for the Turin-based club for over a decade, winning 11 league titles but zero Champions Leagues.

Alisson hasn't featured for the Reds since before the most recent international break, ceding reps to Mamardashvili in a season where the club is already out of the Premier League title race.

The Brazilian disputed reports in a recent tweet that he suffered a new injury. "I didn't suffer a new injury," he tweeted, translated from Portuguese. "I'm in the treatment phase, and the plan is to be in full playing condition by the end of April!."

Alisson regularly missed around a half-dozen Premier League games a season, meaning having a strong backup has remained paramount.

If Alisson is sold, it's unclear who would backup Mamardashvili next season. Current third choice keeper Freddie Woodman appeared once this campaign, conceding three times in a 3-0 League Cup loss to Crystal Palace in October.

The Reds could turn to Vitezslav Jaros, currently injured and out during his loan assignment at Ajax. He made his Liverpool debut last season in the League Cup against Brighton.

If Alisson leaves this summer, he'll exit as a two-time Premier League Golden Glove winner and the 2018/19 UEFA Champions League goalkeeper of the season. He also boasts 76 caps for Brazil.
