Allegri admits he smiled at ‘good football’ claim but thanks Milan: “A top-quality squad”

AC Milan are in a prime position to play this game against Napoli, and Massimiliano Allegri will hope his side can get three points.

There is such a focus on this game from everyone. Barring that first-day defeat, which looks miles away from Milan now, the Rossoneri look like a credible challenger for the Scudetto, provided they maintain this form.

Goals are being scored and kept out, and Allegri’s football is being seen with results arriving as thick and fast as they can without European football. Should they continue like this, though, that could return next season.

Allegri’s football

Speaking to DAZN ahead of the game, Allegri discussed the praise for his football, Leao’s chances of starting and the battle of the Maestri, as MilanPress relays.

“Allegri plays good football? It makes me smile to hear that said, but I’m lucky that the club has given me a top-quality squad.

“Leao? He won’t start; he’s had two half-training sessions with the team, so absolutely not. He’ll still be available. Modric and De Bruyne are top-tier players. I’m very happy to coach Luka and watch them play.”

It is difficult to contest claims about good football after this week, six goals scored in two games, with none conceded. Allegri has to smile at this, indeed.
