Massimiliano Allegri has suggested that there might be some flexibility in his tactical approach, after AC Milan drew frustratingly again.
For the second time in four days Milan drew with a team in the bottom few places in the table, and for the second straight game it was an equaliser in the dying minutes that rescued a point.
Milan created a couple of clear-cut opportunities in the first half at the Franchi, but Christian Pulisic squandered them which is unlike him. Naturally, Fiorentina were the one who got themselves ahead in the second half as Pietro Comuzzo headed in a corner.
Just as it looked like the unbeaten run was over, substitute Christopher Nkunku popped up in the final minute to fire in a pass from another substitute in Youssouf Fofana and rescue a draw. It came after a switch to add an extra body up front, taking a man out of the defence, therefore becoming a 4-3-3.
Allegri spoke to Sky (via MilanNews) after the final whistle to comment on his team’s performance. While the Rossoneri avoided defeat, they still only managed a draw, and missed the chance to go back top with Inter drawing.
Is the approach the problem?
“Unfortunately, there are parts of the match that need improving, because after the 1-1 draw, with seven minutes left, you have to do better. At least you can’t risk losing it; then if you win it, good.”

What’s your take on the table?
“It’s a head-to-head battle. It’ll be a battle to the finish for the top four. We’ll need to maintain consistent results, and it’s only natural that we need to add victories to that.”
Without Modric, Milan wins little
“We’ve improved, because before we suffered two defeats, today a draw. Modric is unique, today he needed a rest, as did Rabiot and Leao. Those who took to the field played a good game and I’m happy.”
Is there any chance of making any changes to the line-up over time or soon?
“It depends on how I see the team, but it has the characteristics to play with other formations.”
