Allegri comments on Leao, Modric, Loftus-Cheek and Fofana ahead of Cremonese game

Massimiliano Allegri provided some important updates in his pre-match press conference regarding certain individuals in the Milan squad.

As La Gazzetta dello Sport recall, the coach sat down in front of the media to preview a Serie A game as Milan boss for the first time in over a decade, and among the first topics he was asked about was the fitness of Rafael Leao.

He kept his cards close to his chest, stating: “There’s no update on Rafa Leao, he’s fine and we hope to have him in Lecce, otherwise we’ll see him after the break.” That being said, it was already known things would be taken day by day.

The Rossoneri head coach was questioned on the midfield department and whether or not Luka Modric could get the nod from minute one against Cremonese.

“This afternoon I’ll decide whether Modric will start or play during the match. Loftus-Cheek and Fofana have technique and physicality: by the end of the year, they must have scored at least 15 goals.”

When asked what it’s like to coach Modric, he responded: “There’s no need to talk about Modric’s technique. He’s wonderful when he touches the ball, more on the outside than the inside.

“He can’t have the physicality he had twenty years ago, so we’ll try to manage the year as best we can. He’s shown great availability, physically he’s in great shape.”

So, what can we take from the comments? Leao is still under observation, the midfield composition is something that he will make a late decision on, and he wants more from RLC and Fofana.
