Allegri confirms changes for Milan-Lecce but says ‘physical condition’ will determine them

Given the tight schedule, Massimiliano Allegri is expected to make some changes to the starting eleven for Milan-Lecce, but he admitted that he hasn’t decided which yet.

Milan will play their fifth game in 16 days tomorrow, taking on Lecce at home, and Allegri will thus have to think about the condition of his players. Most of the key players featured against Como on Thursday evening, except for Christian Pulisic, so today will be a decisive day.

Indeed, during his press conference, Allegri admitted that there will be changes to the starting eleven. However, he made it clear that he hasn’t made any decision yet, aiming to assess the players at Milanello this afternoon first.

Injury and player updates…

“Pavlovic is unlikely to be in the game. Until yesterday, he couldn’t head the ball. Gimenez is still out. The others are more or less all fine. Tomorrow there will be some changes, because it’s the fourth game in two weeks.

What will the starting XI changes be?

“I don’t even know. I’m looking at the team today. We will see who has recovered best. Leao was crucial, but as soon as he gets over his adductor problem, he can and must do much better. Fullkrug also did very well.

“I need to figure out who’s fit and eligible today, who’s in top physical condition. The substitutions will be important; in Como, they were crucial. Not because I’m guessing right, but because the guys are making themselves available to their teammates.”

The latest reports are suggesting that Samuele Ricci could replace Luka Modric in midfield, thus giving the veteran some rest, and Pulisic is also poised to start. The American should definitely have fresh legs after remaining on the bench for the entirety of the 3-1 win against Como.
