Allegri discusses Lazio pressure, injuries and his thought process for aims: “One thing at a time”

AC Milan cannot get ahead of themselves too quickly; if they do, they risk tripping up. Tomorrow’s game against Lazio, then, is the big focus.

There is no hiding from the fact that Milan have aims this season, and there may now be updated aims from when the first meetings took place. Context plays into a season, and it would be wrong not to push for the Scudetto, given how things have panned out so far.

For now, though, the Rossoneri must take things steadily, especially as they remain in all three competitions that they started the season in, and the Italian will not want to throw anything away.

So ahead of tomorrow night’s game, the coach spoke to MilanTV about the game itself, the aims for the season, and the injury situation, with Christian Pulisic expected to return to the field in Rome.

His words have been relayed by MilanNews.

“Tomorrow is a great match to play because I think the stadium will be full. Lazio have the same objective as us: to advance to the next round and try to reach the final stages of the Coppa Italia.

“We still have Athekame and Gimenez out, Fofana is on the road to recovery, so we hope to get him back as quickly as possible, as well as the others. Pulisic will be available and everyone else is fine.

“Tomorrow someone will recover, the match will be long, and we’ll need to be good with our substitutions. Those who come on will have to give us a hand.”

On the Coppa Italia…

“It’s a seasonal goal for everyone, knowing that it’s complicated because we have an important, difficult round of 16 match against Lazio, who we played on Saturday.

“The situation is a bit strange, because you think you’ve prepared for the match like the previous one, but instead it will be a different match, and above all because it’s like a final, because it’s a one-off match.”

On the latest lineup news…

“Tomorrow morning, we’ll decide what the starting lineup will be. The important thing will be to play a game of clarity and great technique, knowing it will be a high-pressure one.”

On the Super Cup match…

“From the day after tomorrow, hoping for a positive result, we’ll have to start thinking about the match against Torino. After Torino, we’ll focus on Sassuolo and then the Super Cup. One thing at a time and very calmly.”
