Allegri discusses Leao’s return, Lecce challenge and last suspension: “Do-or-die”

1 hour ago 2

AC Milan are preparing for their game against Lecce in the Coppa Italia currently, and Massimiliano Allegri has previewed the game.

There are several factors to take into account ahead of Milan’s second round fixture against Lecce. Ultimately, though, there is only one thing that matters: getting the win and position in the next round.

Allegri will probably look to rotate things a little, and the midfield could be given a bit of an overhaul for the clash. Though that is to be expected at least to some degree, because of the work that has been done so far.

However, returns may not be in their numbers. Instead, it could be a case of one man coming back into the mix, that being Mike Maignan.

Allegri’s preview

The Italian spent the last game in the stands due to his antics against Bologna. However, he will return to the San Siro sideline for tomorrow night’s game. This morning, he spoke to Sportmediaset, and MilanNews relayed his words.

The Coppa Italia…

“Tomorrow’s a different competition than the league; it’s a do-or-die match. There’s not even extra time, so we can’t go to penalties, which are a lottery. Winning is never easy; we’ll have to have the right approach.”

Nkunku’s first start?

“He’s feeling better, he might even start. Tomorrow is a chance to see who hasn’t played as much, but it’s a chance to move forward and advance to the next round.”

Watching from the stands…

You experience it differently; watching the match from the stands is different. Let’s hope it’s the last time, because I can’t afford to be in the stands again.”

Is Leao close to being back?

“Absolutely not tomorrow. We’ll evaluate him on Thursday and Friday and then decide whether or not he’ll be available for Napoli.”
