Massimiliano Allegri explained that he expects a different type of game against Roma tonight, compared to the reverse fixture, at least in the defensive phase.
Milan prevailed in the first game between the two sides, scoring the only goal of the game through Strahinja Pavlovic. However, as most people will remember, Roma dominated large parts of the first half and the Rossoneri really could have conceded a few times.
Nevertheless, it’s clear that Roma caused issues with their fluidity up front, though today’s game could be very different. During his press conference yesterday, Allegri said that he expects a different Roma in attack as they have added a reference point with the new signing Donyell Malen.
Have Roma changed since the first leg?
“In terms of aggression, no, but in terms of having a point of reference in attack, yes. Malen is a good player and he presented himself very well. It will be a different match for us defensively,” the gaffer explained.
The latest reports suggest that Koni De Winter will get the chance at the back once again, with Pavlovic staying on the bench. Compared to the Serbian, the Belgian has a more ‘laidback’ role, certainly not going on as many runs forward. This also helps Milan push forward on the right instead.
